4:00 Pm, April 2, 2017Central Park, NYCThough Central Park is open 365 days a year, many sections of it off-limits to park-goers (and their feet) as they want to preserve and maintain the grass and have it all beautiful and ready for the fall. Well today seemed to be the day these sections open up to the public, as the 60+°F temperatures had the park full by noon, and pedestrians taking advantage of some of the greenest pastures this city has to offer. And this being Central Park, looking up from the immaculate seasonal lawns proved to be as rewarding, if not more so.

1:43 PM, February 19, 2017Central Park, NYCI was near impossible to not take a conveniently easy trip to Central Park when it recently hit 66ºF in mid-February here in New York City. I ventured to one of the favorite NYC spots of my not-from-NYC favorite person, Bethesda Fountain, featuring the Lady of the Waters statue, which strikes an imposing and impressive view, no matter from what angle you look upon it.The fountain commemorates the Croton water system, which first brought fresh water to New York City in 1842. The angel carries a lily in her left hand — a symbol of the water's purity, very important to a city that had previously suffered from a devastating cholera epidemic before the system was established. The piece is the only statue that was commissioned for the Park. Created by Emma Stebbins, it also marked the first time a woman received a public art commission in New York City.

7:10 AM, October 27, 2106Upper East Side, NYCThis morning, at around 5am, I was starting to get concerned about the steady and increasingly strong smell of smoke. One of my likewise early-riser friends asked, during our daily early morning chat, if I was hearing the sounds of helicopters as well. Once I turned down the sound on my rainstorm app, I did. My friend soon heard on the radio that there was a fire somewhere in the Upper East Side, where I live.I don't watch TV or listen to the radio, so I took until 6am before I found a story about the fire, detailing that it was a 6-alarm fire and only 9 blocks away from me. I was already dressed to go to Fairway supermarket, so I grabbed my camera as well at headed to the scene of the fire. There I found a young, rookie reporter — they're the ones who get called by their bosses to cover stories at unconventional hours — seemingly live-Facebooking, as she had finished her live media broadcast for the time being. All told they were some major injuries, and supposedly one death as well. The smell of smoke was strong enough for me to be concerned that my own building could be in peril. I can't imagine what it would be like to wake up to the smell of smoke, or the sight of fire in my own home, worried that I might not make it out. A doleful reminder that tragedy can strike at any time.

October 16, 2016, 2:48 PMEast Village, NYCThere are still artists in the East Village. 60, 70 years old, still walking around the neighborhood with fresh paint or plaster of Paris on their black denim jeans and original issue NYC music club t-shirts. The NYU students do dress the part, though they walk too fast with their heads in their devices to appreciate the local art and the personalities of the people around them.

I felt crowded/claustrophobic so I crossed to the south side of the street (where there were no photographers), about 5 steps away from the 6.5 foot wide, 25°-angled vertex of the physical building.Looking up and through the camera lens I had chosen instead to appreciate, admire, and highlight the details of the "Renaissance revival" architecture of the 22-story, 114-year old, limestone and glazed terra cotta iconic NYC landmark. The partial cloud cover and slight sunlight flares were just bonuses. But happy to get this close-up shot that upon further Internet research is even rarer than I would have imagined.

12:48 PM, February 21, 2016Washington Square Park, NYCOn this particular afternoon where I found myself in the Greenwich Village area I strolled through Washington Square Park to find three different musical performances plating with earshot of each other. A piano player closest to the Park's arch entrance had just taken a break when an older gentlemen offered to play during the first pianist's break. He played classical — and well. And was not shy about letting other listeners and parkgoers get near him to take photos.I took a handful of pictures, this shot being my favorite—and not just because it's one of the few shots that doesn't show the other photographers/Instagrammers/social media posters conspicuously orbiting the subject.

11:15 AM, January 1, 2016Chinatown, NYCHad just finished having my first meal of the new year at dim sum restaurant Golden Unicorn, and was walking my way to the subway for the trip uptown back home, and unsuspectedly walked by one of the outposts of Nom Wah Tea Parlor, a place I have been dying to try out for quite some time. Took this picture as a reminder to do so. And happy to see the place is still popular with a line of people outside waiting to get in at just past 11 in the morning.

4:09 PM, December 17, 2015Chelsea, NYCAfter having a very satisfying lunch at Chelsea Market seafood restaurant Cull & Pistol—with new friends I met on Facebook and finally met in person—I snapped a couple of pics as I wound my way out of the market, this particular one being of most interest to me. Kind of Hopperesque again, but with a far more modern and accessible "vibe".

12:18 PM, December 15, 2015Little Italy, NYCDoes this look like a scene happening in NYC in mid-December? I didn't think so either. But here it was just after noon on December 15th and this woman is straight "chillin' out" like it was the start of spring. (And she's problem checking her mobile device to see how much longer the unseasonably warm weather is going to last.)

5:28 pm, December 9, 2015Upper West Side, NYCTaking a little bit a stroll after another (impromptu) photoshoot, always love the utter randomness of not just the one block-long park abutting the north entrance to the 1 train, but the people in it and walking through it. These two represented quite literally the "baggage" that we. as New Yorkers, always seem to be carrying.

5:59 PM, December 6, 2015Chelsea, NYCRandomly happened upon this Hopper-esque visual while hanging with friends on a fire escape right around nightfall. personally, plenty of identification.
3:52 PM, November 4, 2015
3:52 PM, November 4, 2015East Village, NYCFirst noticed the retro sign. Then noticed the stereotypically hirsute young men getting their manes and beards properly coiffed and maintained. Last thing I noticed, after many more observations, was the wild, long mane of the colorfully-attired woman sitting right in front of the barbershop. There's was no way I could pass up the opportunity to capture the amusing visual.

3:50 PM, November 4, 2015East Village, NYCI'm a lifelong New York who just discovered Freeman Alley for the first time today. I checked out a Gordon Parks exhibit and took in a lunch at a restaurant at dead end of the alley. Walking back out after lunch i stopped to frame this shot, choosing to wait for the next pedestrian to walk by to take the picture. I bicyclist went by instead. I had to be quick.

1:35 PM, November 1, 2015Upper East Side, NYCThe TCS NYC Marathon always brings out the best in avid fan spectators, throughout all the neighborhoods of the five boroughs it winds through. A great universally positive energy and vibe are enjoyed by runners and supporters alike.

9:20 PM, October 18, 2014Central Park, NYCWanting to see the autumn-turning-of-the-leaves situation in Central Park, I checked the view from the Jackie O Reservoir in Central Park. From the view I could see I was about a week or two early, so decided to get a shot of the fence post—with the skyline in the background—as a precursor.
9:20 AM, October 10, 2015
9:20 AM, October 10, 2015Harlem, NYCThe length of this truck, with its long, blank, white canvas-like side, was what first caught my attention. Then it was the fact the truck's shadow covered the width of the street right up to the edge of the sidewalk curb. Didn't have to wait long for the pedestrian to walk through, snapping the pic as she crossed center frame. The sun flare on her shoulder isa bonus

9:03 PM, October 7, 2015World Trade Center, NYCThis is the closest I'd been to the newly opened Freedom Tower. It does indeed cut a majestic presence in the New York City night sky.
